Longest 120 Minutes

I have watched really boring films, waited for some "punctual" friends, attended the midnight Christmas service but ..none of them were long as today's 120 minutes.

Today for the first time I had to take care of Zid  for about 2 hours.. all by myself ..

As the maid left, leaving the smiling Zidu with me who was lying in the bed, I never thought it was the calm before the storm. As soon as she left, I took him from the bed and started showing different things..I showed him the rotating fan, lights of the cars and bikes that is going through the road, different colored plates in the kitchen, the ever dependent zero watt bulb and even the inbox of my Google mail. I felt he is not interested in just "viewing" activity.. he showed more eagerness to feel it .. I thought i was right on track and estimated that i might have spend atleast 20 minutes on this "activity" but.. the clock showed me the shocking truth .. just 5 minutes has gone since the maid left !!!!

Only after carrying him for 5 minutes, my hands started paining. So i took him to the bed. We played hide and seek in which initially he actively participated by laughing at each of my "finding" sequence.. then as the iterations increased.. he still laughed.. not because he enjoyed it but as if he don't want to disappoint me for my efforts. Again the clock moved 5 more minutes. He became restless and he wanted to do some thing else. So i took him again and went to the balcony.. There was a nice breeze.. he started to sleep in my hands. As he was falling to a deep sleep my phone rang. He got up from the sleep.. I tried to make him sleep again but he didnt close his eyes. It looks like he was sleepy but some how he cannot sleep.. He turned and twisted in my hands but stayed awake.. I thought he might be hungry.. decided to give milk from his bottle.. he drank milk in no time and that was the only time he stayed in the bed without any problem.

But my plan backfired..he didnt sleep even after drinking milk.. Now the problem became worse.. he started crying. May be it was today that for the first time in almost 2 months the neighbours felt that there is a baby in this apartment. In between he did "soo-soo" couple of times. He became louder and louder and none of my tricks seems working. There is almost 30 more minutes to 9.. My hands started paining really bad.. I took him in to the elevator.. he likes to see his own image in the big mirror inside the elevator.. he looked at the image and had a small smile.. but again his face changed..  He started crying loudly and more vigorously.. It was almost 9 then.. and when i was waiting wondering what to do..luckily our another maid who cooks food came and took him.. he stopped crying even though he is not completely satisfied.. I immediately went to pick Chithra and as soon as he saw her.... his face said it all....

Moral: Don't underestimate KIDS especially BABIES.. They can give you more trouble than what you have anticipated
